I'm having problems buying a plugin on the Barn2 checkout
This article provides advice on a range of issues that you might encounter on the checkout page while purchasing our plugins.
If the below advice doesn't resolve your problem then please contact us and we will help you to resolve the problem.
VAT problems
As a supplier of digital products, Barn2 is legally required to charge VAT to customers in the European Union or UK. The tax rate will be the current rate for the country that you are based in.
If your business is based in the European Union (but not the UK) and have a valid VAT number for your country, then you can enter your VAT number on the checkout and have the tax reverse charged.
If you see an error when you enter your VAT number then this will be due to one of the following reasons:
- Your VAT number is not valid.
- There's a problem with the EU's VIES database or the UK VAT database which our website is connecting with in order to validate your VAT number. If this happens then there is nothing we can do about it, and your options are either:
- To wait until the database is working again, or;
- To purchase the plugin including the VAT, and then contact Support asking for a VAT refund. To do this, we will need to manually validate your VAT number so please send this to us with your support request.
Reverse charging is not possible if your business is based in the UK because Barn2 is a UK company and is required to charge ALL our customers (including registered businesses) UK VAT. This is part of UK domestic tax law and not the EU VAT law which applies to customers in the EU.
Credit card problems
If the checkout is not accepting your credit card then we recommend that you try the following:
- Check the card is valid.
- Try using a different credit card.
- Try making the purchase in a different browser (e.g. Chrome or Safari).
and if the issue persists, contact support with complete details of the issue
PayPal errors
If you see any PayPal errors while you're trying to purchase one of our plugins, the easiest solution is to try the credit card option instead.
Insufficient funds
When customers contact us reporting problems with PayPal, the most common cause is that their are insufficient funds in their PayPal account and they were unaware of this. As a result, we recommend checking your PayPal balance before spending any further time troubleshooting the problem.
"The account is registered in a country that doesn't allow automatic payments"
If you see this error then it means that you live in a country that doesn't allow ongoing PayPal subscriptions (e.g. Germany). When you buy an annual license for one of our plugins, an ongoing subscription is created which will automatically renew your license key each year until you cancel. This isn't an option if you live in a country that doesn't support PayPal subscriptions.
Instead, you can buy the plugin using one of these payment options:
- Choose the credit/debit card option on our website instead. This lets you pay directly with credit or debit card, and doesn't use PayPal.
- If that's not possible for you, please log into PayPal and send full payment for the plugin (including tax) to us at billing@barn2.com. Send us a support request and we will then send you the plugin files and license key manually. This will be a one-off payment rather than an annual subscription. If you want to renew your plugin license in a year's time then you can do so manually.
Please contact us if you have any further problems buying the plugin.
