How can I categorize my WordPress pages?

By default, WordPress pages cannot be structured into categories. However, you can create page categories with a bit of custom coding, or you can use our free Easy Post Types and Fields plugin to do it as follows:

  1. Install the plugin via Plugins → Add New.
  2. Skip the setup wizard and go to Post Types → Other Post Types.
  3. Click to add a new custom taxonomy to the 'Page' post type. Tick the 'Hierarchical' box and call the taxonomy whatever you like, such as 'Page Categories'.

Once you have added categories to your WordPress pages, you can use our Password Protected Categories plugin to either password protect the categories or mark them as private.

Please note: Our plugin support includes helping you to use the Password Protected Categories plugin. We can't help you to create categories for your pages in the first place. If you need help with this, you can find a WordPress expert by posting a job on Codeable

We've partnered with Codeable to provide our customers with expert help if required.
