How to manage your document library
Once you have added documents using the Document Library Pro plugin, it's easy to manage them and keep them organized.
Viewing & editing documents
You can access your list of documents by clicking the Documents link in the left of the WordPress admin. From there, you can:
- Make bulk actions such as deleting multiple documents.
- Click on a document to edit it.

Document categories
Document categories are a taxonomy called doc_categories and are separate from your blog post categories.
Go to Documents → Categories to create, edit and delete categories, and to structure them into hierarchical parent/child category relationships. If you add categories directly on the Add Document screen then the new categories will also appear here.
Document tags
Document categories are a taxonomy called document_tags and are separate from your blog post tags.
Go to Documents → Tags to create, edit and delete tags. If you add tags directly on the Add Document screen then the new tags will also appear here.
Custom taxonomies
If you have created any custom taxonomies for your documents, then these will appear in the left of the WordPress admin under Categories and Tags. You can add/edit/delete/restructure your taxonomy terms from there.
Viewing downloadable documents in the Media Library
The downloadable files uploaded to individual documents are stored in the Media Library. You can filter the Media Library to only view document files - this is a good way to manage them and keep them separate from other media files (e.g. images for your pages and posts).
- Click Media in the left of the WordPress admin.
- Make sure you are on the List view rather than the Grid view (to change view, use the icons underneath the 'Media Library' heading).
- Select 'Documents' from the 'All types' dropdown.
Managing document versions
Document Library Pro has a version control feature which you can use to track and manage previous versions of each downloadable document.
