Where can I store the documents?

When you use the Document Library Pro plugin, you can store the document files anywhere you like on the web.

In the WordPress Media Library

You can store your document files in the WordPress Media Library so long as they are a file type which is supported by your WordPress installation. This is the most fully-featured option because:

  • Depending on the file type, you can display a 'Preview' button allowing users to access the document without downloading it. Regardless of the file type, you can always display 'Download' buttons in the document library.
  • Document Library Pro will automatically identify the file size and type, and display these in the file size and file type fields in your document library (if you are using these).

On a 3rd party platform

Document Library Pro also lets you store your documents anywhere else on the web. When you create a document, simple select the 'File URL' option and enter the URL of where it is stored. The download button will then link to that URL.

This gives you complete flexibility because you can store the documents literally anywhere that is accessible online. This includes:

  • Dropbox.
  • Google Drive.
  • Microsoft OneDrive.
  • Amazon AWS or S3.
  • YouTube.
  • Vimeo.
  • SoundCloud.
  • And so on...
