How to set up the navigation menu for the public and wholesale stores

WooCommerce Wholesale Pro is designed to use the same menu for the public and wholesale areas, and automatically shows different links to each type of user.

It works like this:

  • Public Shop page - visible to guests and non-wholesale roles only
  • Wholesale Login page - visible to guests and non-wholesale roles only
  • Wholesale Store page - visible to wholesale roles only
  • Product categories marked as Public Only - visible to guests and non-wholesale roles only
  • Product categories marked as Wholesale Only - visible to wholesale roles only
  • Product categories marked as Public and Wholesale - visible to everyone

How to set up the menu

Go to Appearance → Menus, create a menu and select it as the primary location. Add all the pages that you want people to be able to access from the menu.

WooCommerce Wholesale Pro will automatically show each menu link to the appropriate users and hide it otherwise, using the rules described above.

What about the wholesale registration page?

WooCommerce Wholesale Pro doesn't create a wholesale registration page, as it adds a registration form to the wholesale login page.

If you have used the [wholesale_registration] shortcode to create a registration page, then this will not automatically be hidden from logged in wholesale users. If you wish to hide this from wholesale users then we recommend using the free Nav Menu Roles plugin for this.

If you have used the Custom Links option in Appearance → Menus to add links to the menu, then these will ignore the visibility options described above.

Instead, you should select the pages from the 'Pages' section, and the product categories from the 'Product Categories' section of Appearance → Menus. This allows WooCommerce Wholesale Pro to automatically show and hide them from each user group.

My menu isn't updating when I make changes!

We recommend clearing the cache after updating the menu. If you are seeing the wrong links in your menu, then please clear the cache - both on your website (if you have a caching plugin), the caching provided by your hosting company, and your browser cache.

Please note that administrators can see public and wholesale menu links.
