16+ add-on field types
Eight ways to price an add-on
Custom price formulas

Global and category groups
Variations shown as options
Works with your theme
Offer any kind of product add-on
16+ field types on any product
Add checkboxes, dropdowns, radio buttons, color swatches, image buttons, text fields, number fields, file uploads and date pickers to any WooCommerce product. You build them in our interface, with no code and no theme editing involved.
Let customers type, upload or pick a date
A text field takes a name or a message, with a character limit you set. Print shops and sign makers collect print-ready artwork through a file upload field, and you choose the file types you accept, such as PDF or EPS. For delivery dates and simple bookings, add a date and time picker.
Turn your variations into add-ons
If you’ve already built your choices as attributes and variations, select them in the plugin and show them as swatches, image buttons or radio buttons instead of dropdowns. They keep their own stock and their own SKUs.
Charge what each add-on is worth
Eight ways to price an add-on
There are eight: A flat fee, a quantity-based fee, a percentage increase, a percentage decrease, a price per character typed, a price per file uploaded, a customer-defined price and a price formula. The customer-defined price field lets shoppers name their own amount, which suits donations and tips.
Price formulas for anything more involved
If your prices depend on what the customer picks, write a price formula and let the AI bot build it from a plain English description. A formula can use any other option, the quantity, and the product’s own weight and dimensions.
Customers see the total before they buy
The price updates on the product page as each add-on is chosen, so your customers never have to ask you for a quote. Trade suppliers use this to price by the sheet, the meter or the square foot, with the finish and fitting choices added on top.
Show each add-on at the right moment
Conditional logic keeps the page short
A long list of extras pushes your add to cart button down the page and makes a simple product look complicated. Conditional logic hides an add-on until the customer picks the choice that triggers it. The Foiling Collective, a UK surf shop, uses a checkbox that reveals image buttons for the front wings fitting the board the customer chose.
Add-ons that depend on the variation
An add-on can appear for one variation and not another. Conditional logic on variations means the extra fields for the large size appear only once the customer picks it.
Tabs, steps and popups
Where you offer a lot of add-ons, put them in tabs, take the customer through them one step at a time, or open them in a popup. Each layout saves space on the product page and keeps it tidy.
Upsell with the products you already sell
Accessories above the add to cart button
The Products field shows other products from your store as options, either chosen individually or pulled from a category. For example, customers add the matching case, the spare filter or the gift box without leaving the page.
Real stock and real SKUs
Each product offered this way becomes its own line on the order, with its own SKU and its own stock count. You pick and pack it from the order like any other sale.
A quantity picker on every choice
Switch on the quantity picker for a choice and customers say how many of it they want. For example, mix-and-match boxes, sample packs, party kits and gift baskets all work this way, and you can cap the total they take.
Set your add-ons up once
One group across a whole category
Assign an option group to a single product, to a category or to your whole store. Edit the group once and every product using it updates right away.
Different add-ons for different customers
Show an option group to chosen WordPress user roles only, so wholesale buyers and retail shoppers see different extras on the same product.
Move your add-ons between sites
Import and export your option setups. A second store starts from the add-ons you already built, instead of you creating them again by hand.
“The best WooCommerce extra product options plugin ever made. Neatly written code, excellent support, and promises to develop and add functionality in the future. A real best buy. Thank you!”

“I was looking for a plugin that would allow my customers to build a product dynamically. The Barn2 plugin worked great for my project. Their customer service went above and beyond. Highly recommended!”
Kim Earp - USA
★★★★★
“It’s incredible how quickly things get complicated when you’re trying to price accurately. I haven't seen another plugin that lets you have formulas that you can use in Excel on a website.”
Richard Fewings - UK
★★★★★
“The team at Barn2 has done it again! We were able to add our options in no time. It works great with restaurant ordering, where you want customers to click on a thumbnail to add options (think Pizza).”
Armando J. Pérez-Carreño - USA
★★★★★
“The plugin was just what I needed to display a lot of add-ons to my products in a nice and easy way. At some point I needed some support and I got a comprehensive answer!”
Extras that are just another version of the same product
Basic paid extras from a first-party source
Paid extras, personalization and accessories on the product page
What customers can do
Pick one value of each attribute from a dropdown
Check a box, pick from a dropdown, choose a sample image or type text
All of that, plus color swatches, number fields, file uploads, date pickers, price formulas and your other products as choices
Conditional logic
No. Every attribute shows all the time
No. Its reviews often point at the missing conditional logic
Yes. Each add-on appears only once the customer picks the choice that triggers it
How you price it
One price per combination, set on each variation
Flat, percentage and quantity-based fees
Eight pricing types plus custom price formulas, with an AI bot to write them
Our verdict
Stick with variations where the extras change the item itself, such as size and color, and where you need stock on each one. However, five sizes in 10 colors is 50 variations to create and keep up to date
Choose the official extension if you want basic fields from WooCommerce itself and your product pages are short enough to show every field at once without cluttering up the product page
Choose WooCommerce Product Options when you want the full range of add-on field types, conditional logic and price formulas. You can even display product variations as add-ons
★★★★★
“The plugin gave us a solution to buy products in bulk, rather than individually - very useful for teams. It installed easily and works perfectly with WooCommerce variations, saving us a lot of time!”

Our world-class support starts here: How can we help?
Which types of store use WooCommerce product add-ons?
We visited every store running our Product Options plugin to see what it sells. Printing and garment decorating is the biggest group by a wide margin, at around a quarter of them. It’s growing, too: It was closer to a third of everything bought in the last year. Food and drink ordering comes next, then made-to-measure products for the home and trade, at roughly one store in nine each. After those come garden and outdoor products, personalized gifts and engraving, services and hire, industrial supply, and crafts.
What are WooCommerce product add-ons?
Product add-ons are the extra choices a customer makes on your product page before they buy, such as gift wrap, an engraved name, a rush delivery fee or a matching accessory. Some are free and some carry a charge. WooCommerce has no field for any of this on its own, so you add them with a plugin.
Does WooCommerce have product add-ons built in?
No. WooCommerce only gives you variations, so a shopper can’t type a name or upload a logo on your product page. Variations also need one entry for every combination, so five sizes in 10 colors means 50 of them. A product add-ons plugin adds the extra fields instead. The choices then combine on their own.
Is this a separate WooCommerce product add-ons plugin?
No. Product add-ons are a feature of our WooCommerce Product Options plugin, so you buy one plugin from the pricing table on this page and get everything described here. If your customers also need to see their artwork on the finished item, the pricing table offers a bundle with our Live Preview add-on.
What custom product add-ons can I sell?
You can sell any extra a customer picks before they order. For example:
Print-ready artwork, plus size, paper, material and finish choices.
Toppings, sides and an allergens field on every product.
Measurements, plus the material and fitting choices that go with them.
Accessories and spares pulled from elsewhere in your store.
How do I charge extra for an add-on?
Put a price on each choice when you create it. You can charge a flat fee, a quantity-based fee, a percentage of the product price, a price per character the customer types or a price per file they upload. The running total appears above the add to cart button, so customers see the full amount before they buy.
Can the price depend on what the customer picks?
Yes, through a price formula: It can read any other option, the quantity, and the product’s own price, weight and dimensions. It works like a spreadsheet, with a wide range of mathematical and logical operators. Describe the pricing in plain English and our AI bot writes the formula for you. Our measurement price calculator page covers pricing by size, area and weight in more depth.
Can I hide an add-on until the customer needs it?
Yes. Conditional logic shows or hides any add-on based on the customer’s other choices, including the variation they picked. Gift wrap is the usual example: A single checkbox reveals the wrapping choices to the shoppers who want them. Everyone else sees a short, clean product page.
Can customers upload a file with their add-ons?
Yes. A file upload field takes their logo, photo or print-ready artwork, and you choose the file types you accept, the maximum size and how many files they can send. The files arrive with the order and in your order email. You can also charge per file. For example, a customer sending you three designs pays for three.
Can I offer other products in my store as add-ons?
Yes, with the Products field: Pick individual products or a whole category. They then appear as choices above the add to cart button. Each one the customer takes becomes its own order line with its own SKU and stock, so you pick and pack it exactly as you would any other sale. Our guide to raising average order value with add-ons has more on this.
Can I use the same add-ons on hundreds of products?
Yes. Your add-ons live in option groups, and you assign a group to one product, to a category or to your whole store. For example, a restaurant creates one group for the burgers, another for the pizzas and a store-wide allergens field on everything. Edit a group once and every product using it updates right away.
Do product add-ons work with variable products?
Yes. Customers pick a variation first, then fill in the add-ons on the same page, and an add-on can be set to appear for one variation only. You can also take variations you already built and show them as swatches, image buttons or checkboxes, keeping their stock and SKUs.
Can I manage stock on an add-on?
Options you create in the plugin don’t track stock. Where you need a stock count on a choice, use real variations, or use the Products field so each choice is a real product with its own inventory.
Will you set up my product add-ons?
Yes, free within 30 days of buying. Every license includes the service, which covers up to five options with 20 choices. After buying, you request it on our free setup page.
Will it work with my theme and other plugins?
WooCommerce Product Options works with any well-coded WordPress theme. We test it with a range of free and premium themes. You can add product add-ons without bringing in a developer, adding code, or editing theme templates.
The theme compatibility page shows the themes we test with. If a theme conflict appears, our support team will help.
WooCommerce Product Options is designed to work with any WordPress translation plugin such as WPML, WeGlot and TranslatePress. This makes it easy for you to translate the extra product fields into any language and use it on multilingual websites.
What are the minimum requirements for running the plugin?
WooCommerce Product Options is fully tested with the latest versions of WordPress and WooCommerce. We always recommend running the most up-to-date version, but we also support older installations:
Plugin and Plugin support are great, I encountered a issue that support and developer fixed and updated very quickly. The mathematical equations and variables are easy to logically understand. Great plugin to solve complicated product options.

Having looked for ways to showcase our framing options we were disheartened to not find a visual option until we came across Barn2's plugin. It works perfectly offering a slick interface for creating the options as well as an easy to understand front end for our customers.

Excellent Support
Rated 5 stars
By Maria Ward on
I had a problem with the functionality of the Barn2 plugin that I had purchased. Unfortunately, the product did not suit what I needed it for, however, I am super impressed at how excellent the customer support was at going the extra mile to try to find a solution that would work for my company. In the long run, they were able to refer out to another service provider who could possibly help us. This is how business should be done. They met the need of the customer, even though I didn't actually end up doing business with them. Although their product didn't suit my current, very specific need, I would definitely consider them again in the future as we continue to develop our site and business.
