The quick view lightbox does not open

If the quick view button appears on your shop or product pages but clicking it doesn't open the lightbox, this is almost always caused by a conflict with your theme or another plugin. The button itself is working, but something is stopping the popup from opening. Here's how to track it down.

This applies to WooCommerce Quick View Pro. If the buttons aren't appearing at all (rather than appearing but not opening), please see our guide on quick view buttons not displaying correctly instead.

1. Disable your theme's own quick view feature

Some themes include their own built-in quick view, which clashes with WooCommerce Quick View Pro. If both are active, the button may not open the lightbox correctly.

Check your theme's settings (often under the WooCommerce or shop options) and turn off its built-in quick view. For example, the Flatsome theme has its own quick view that needs disabling. Once you've turned off the theme's version, test the button again.

2. Check your browser console for errors

A JavaScript error from another plugin or your theme can stop the lightbox from opening. To check:

  1. Open a page with a quick view button.
  2. Open your browser's developer console (press F12, or right-click and choose Inspect, then open the Console tab).
  3. Click the quick view button and watch for any red error messages.

If you see an error, it will usually name the file or plugin causing it, which is a strong clue to the source of the conflict.

3. Test for a plugin or theme conflict

To confirm whether another plugin or your theme is responsible:

  1. Temporarily switch to a default theme such as Storefront.
  2. Deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce and WooCommerce Quick View Pro.
  3. Try the quick view button again.

If the lightbox now opens, reactivate your other plugins one at a time, testing after each, until it stops working again. The last plugin you reactivated is the source of the conflict. You can do this safely on a staging site so it doesn't affect your live store.

Still not working?

If you've worked through these steps and the lightbox still won't open, please get in touch with a link to a page showing the quick view button, and any error messages from the console, and we'll be happy to help.
