How do free trials, payments and usage billing work?

The monthly payments for Barn2 Bundles & Bulk Discounts is handled by Shopify. This article explains how it works.

Free plan

A Free plan is available for development stores. Note that you will not see this option if you are already on a paid Shopify plan. If you have a paid Shopify plan then you can choose from one of the paid app plans (which all include a free trial).

Free trials

All Barn2 Bundles & Bulk Discounts paid plans are available with a 14-day free trial. The trial is started automatically whenever you sign up for a paid plan.

After 14 days, your first billing period starts. If you cancel during the trial, then you never have to pay to use the app. To cancel, simply uninstall the app.

Cancelation

Your free trial or subscription can be canceled by uninstalling the app.

If you cancelled after the free trial ended then you might still see a charge in your upcoming bill even after canceling your subscription. You can learn more about it in this article.

Billing dates

As with all Shopify apps, your monthly payment for Barn2 Bundles & Bulk Discounts will take place on the day that you pay for Shopify itself, regardless of which day of the month you signed up for the app. This means that the monthly fee may occasionally be taken after you cancel, which you can read more about in this article.

Usage-based upgrades

The Starter and Growth plans have maximum usage limits, after which you need to upgrade to a higher plan. The usage limits are based on the total value of discounted products that your customers order each month. For example, if your store's total revenue one month is $100,000 - of which $20,000 are products where the customer has received a discount using Barn2 Bundles & Bulk Discounts - then you have sold $20,000 of discounted products.

The maximum value of discounted products is clearly displayed on the pricing table when you sign up to a plan.

Naturally, you won't know how many discounted products you will sell at the time you sign up for the app. We will email you when you reach 75% and 100% of your usage limit and will also display a notice on the app's admin pages when it is time to upgrade. If you reach the limit for your plan then the app will still work on the front end of your store - so customers will still be able to take advantage of your discounts - and you can still disable discounts. However, you won't be able to edit your discounts or create new ones until one of the following happens:

  • You upgrade to a higher plan.
  • Your current billing month ends, which will reset the usage limit.
