Create and edit discounts with Shopify Sidekick
Shopify Sidekick is the AI assistant built into your Shopify admin. Barn2 Bulk Quantity Discounts connects to Sidekick, so you can find, create and edit your discounts by typing a request instead of filling in the discount form. This only works on a store where the app is installed.
Open Sidekick
Click the Sidekick icon in your Shopify admin. It's available from every page, including the app itself. If you can't find it, see Shopify's guide to setting up Sidekick.
Mention Barn2 in your question, so Sidekick looks in the app rather than at Shopify's own discounts.
Ask about your discounts
Sidekick can read the discounts you've already created and answer questions about them. For example:
- "Which Barn2 discounts apply to the iPhone 18 Pro?"
- "How many Barn2 discounts are active on my store?"
- "Show me the full setup for my Black Friday discount."
You can narrow a question by product, by collection, by discount type, or by whether the discount is active. When you ask about a single discount, Sidekick shows its tiers, the products and markets it covers, the schedule and its priority order.
Create a discount
You can describe a new discount in your own words and let Sidekick set it up:
- Ask for the discount, for example "Create a Barn2 volume bundle for the iPhone 18 Pro: Buy 3 for 5% off and buy 5 for 10% off."
- Answer anything Sidekick asks you. If you don't say which type of discount to create, it offers 'Volume bundle' and 'Bulk pricing'.
- Check the 'Review new discount' panel that opens. It lists the name, type, products, markets, tiers, schedule and status.
- Ask Sidekick to adjust anything, and the panel updates.
- Click 'Create discount' to save it.
Nothing is saved until you click 'Create discount', so you can cancel at any point.
Edit a discount
Sidekick can also change a discount you already have, including turning it on or off. For example, ask it to "Add a buy 10 for 15% off tier to my sunglasses discount" or "Deactivate my Black Friday discount". A 'Review bundle changes' panel opens. Click 'Save changes' to apply them.
What Sidekick can't do
There are two things you can't do through Sidekick:
- Delete a discount - Delete it from your list of discounts in the app instead.
- Go past Shopify's limit of 25 active discounts - If your store is already at the limit, Sidekick will save your new discount but it won't apply on your storefront. See How many discounts can I create? for what to do about this.
