How to use bundles and discounts with variants

Barn2 Bundles & Bulk Discounts fully supports variable products and their variants.

How it works with variants depends on the discount type:

  • Volume bundles - If you add volume bundles to a variable product, then the bundles will appear on the product page underneath the variant selectors. That way, customers can select a variant and then choose a quantity option.
  • Bulk pricing - This is controlled by the 'Discount calculation' field:
    • Individual products - The discount is calculated separately for each individual variant, as if they were separate products. For example, imagine that you've created a storewide discount that gives 20% off quantities of 5 or more and the customer adds 2 blue t-shirts and 3 red t-shirts to their cart. They will not qualify for the discount.
    • Entire cart - The discount is calculated based on the combined value of all the products selected in the "Which products?" section, including their variants. In our t-shirt example above, the customer would qualify for the discount because they have ordered 5 items in total, which meets the minimum quantity for the deal.
